Anyone who works with color—artists, decorators, designers, textile manufacturers—knows that PANTONE® is the leading source for color trends. The company sets the standard for color in everything from paint to fashion.
Every year, the Pantone Color Institute announces its “Color of the Year”, and manufacturers take notice. On December 8, 2016, the color forecasters declared that going green isn’t merely an eco-friendly direction for 2017, but a color-filled one.
“Greenery” is the 2017 Color of the Year. Specifically, it’s a hue that is “a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore, and renew.”
Now, manufacturers of paint, textiles, and even home appliances are looking for ways to integrate this particular shade of green into this year’s designs. For your home, look for rugs, furniture, small and large appliances, linens, tableware, and decorative accessories to shift to green this year.
Does this color seem bold? Not to Pantone. “Greenery is nature’s neutral,” the company explained.
The Pantone Color Institute has developed an array of color palettes that pair Greenery with a range of other hues. From the more sedate shades in the “Deep Rooted” and “Calm It Down” palettes to the adventurous “Moody Blooms” and “Rev It Up”, you can find ways to utilize the 2017 Color of the Year in your décor.
